School Rules and Regulations

General Code of Conduct

The aim of the code of conduct for students is to outline the standards of behaviour expected of all students of The Rehla Academy. Students are expected to:

  • Be Punctual- day students are expected to be in school not later than 7.45am.
  • Identity cards must be always worn by students.
  • No student can absent himself/herself from school without genuine reason(s), which must be duly communicated.
  • Students shall not use foul language defamatory or derogatory term
  • Students must establish and maintain a positive work ethic to ensure sustained academic performance
  • Students must diligently follow the school rules
  • Students must be courteous and respectful in their conduct towards staff, fellow students and visitors to the school
  • Students must wear complete uniform to school in a smart and tidy manner, any student not complying will not be allowed into the school
  • Students must wear proper hairstyles without hair attachments (for girls) while boys are to have their hair cut at equal length

Unacceptable Behaviour

  • Disrupting the learning of others
  • Rude or inappropriate language
  • The exhibition of any forms of behaviour that promote hatred, violence or breaking of the law
  • Acts of aggression or any kind of physical violence
  • Bullying or intimidation (including cyberbullying)
  • Discrimination in any form
  • Argument of any kind, disturbance during khutbah.
  • Lateness, poor attention, talking in class
  • Incomplete classwork, missed homework, not following instructions
  • Stealing and vandalism

At The Rehla Academy, we believe in the importance of high personal standards and will continually seek ways to encourage pupils of all ages to behave in line with the deen. Outstanding examples of good behaviour and positive conduct will receive due recognition while any breach of the code of conduct will be subject to disciplinary measures.

Classroom Code of Conduct

  • All students must always maintain their assigned seats
  • All students are required to keep their notebooks/textbooks properly, torn or tattered looking notebooks will not be condoned.
  • Students are expected to turn in their homework before 8.am except otherwise instructed.
  • You are not to roam the hallways or leave your classrooms without a hall pass. Loitering is a grave offense and will be punished accordingly.
  • Students are to sit upright in the classroom. Sleeping position is not allowed in the classroom.
  • Students are required to do a thumb-up sign if they must ask questions during classes.
  • Students are expected to always copy their notes up to date
  • Silence must be maintained in classes and the assembly ground always.
  • Students must ensure their chairs are properly tucked in at the close of school.
  • Students are only allowed bathroom break in between lessons, not in the middle of lessons.
  • Students shall dispose their waste properly in the wastebin. Do not litter or wet the floor
  • No student shall touch the projector/ remote control or under any circumstance access the projector affixed in their classroom.
  • Damages in any class will be bored by the person responsible for the damage or the class as a whole if no one responsible can be identified.

Prayer Time (Soolat) Code of Conduct

  • All students are required to move to the ablution area quietly and in an orderly manner
  • All students are required to join the prayer
  • All students are required to take turns in making wudhu (Boys and girls Separately) and conduct themselves with decorum

TRAM/Laboratory Code of Conduct

  • Students shall always obey and abide by all instructions given by the instructor.
  • Students shall not play with any apparatus, tool or implement. It is punishable
  • Students shall always keep equipment tidy and return same in an orderly manner to its place after use.
  • Students must be in their lab coat when required
  • Students shall not take or touch anything without the instructor’s permission

Dressing Code of Conduct

  • All black shoe – (boots and shoes with heels are not allowed)
  • Socks- Light or Dark Grey
  • Pre-school- Girls must wear pantyhose (Grey Only)
  • Primary- Girls can wear pantyhose or sock (Grey Only)
  • Secondary- Girls can wear leggings/pantyhose/tights (Grey Only) under their skirts
  • Ties must always be worn with the green striped shirt (Boys Only)
  • Sportswear/PE uniforms are to be worn on P.E. designated days only. No sports shoes or trainers will be accepted except during P.E. even if it is shoes are black
  • Only the TRA-approved school cardigan/pullover/sweater may be worn
  • Students must wear only uniforms purchased from the school exclusively
  • Shirts/blouses should be of an appropriate size (not oversize or undersize)
  • Boy’s shirt must be properly tucked in at the waist always
  • Only approved shoes will be allowed
  • Shoes should be polished regularly.
  • Uniform must conform to the uniform policy
  • Trousers/skirts/Shirt Sleeves should not be rolled up.
  • Students must only wear school-approved cardigans/blazers.
  • Students must always be dressed neatly and wear clean uniforms.
  • Boys must have their hair cut short. Hair gel is not allowed.
  • Girls must have long hair tied.
  • Students with pierced ears may wear one pair of studs or tiny hoop earrings.
  • Hairstyling products (colored or non-colored gel, wax, mousse, hairstyling oil/liquid, etc.) are not allowed as well as not to create hairstyles such as spikes or similar. If the student's hairstyle does not adhere to the above policy, he/she will be requested to amend this with immediate effect and in cases where it is not possible, they will be required to remain at home until it is acceptable for them to join the school with the appropriate hairstyle.
  • Both male and female students must always have short clean nails.
  • Girls may not wear henna, nail polish, kohl, or makeup.
  • Students are not allowed to wear fragrances or jewelry, except for wristwatches

Code of Conduct- Teacher/ Staff/Student Relationship

  • Students are required to address teachers and other members of staff politely and courteously.
  • Students shall always respect all staff members.
  • Students shall never disrespect any staff for no reason when being addressed.
  • Students shall always pave way for the staff at any point / spot of contact
  • Students shall acknowledge and greet the staff when you see them either within or outside the school.
  • Students shall have no other interactions with any staff outside academics within and outside the school
  • Students are not allowed to give items as gifts to teachers (Cash or other materials) without the management's approval.
  • Only class representatives are allowed to visit staff rooms
  • Students are not allowed to contact their parents through any member of staff. It is highly prohibited.

Parent Guidelines

Parents involvement in their children’s education almost always guarantees their children’s academic success. The following guidelines are necessary to help them navigate

  • Parents shall accord all members of staff with respect
  • Parents shall ensure their child(ren) is/are always punctual
  • Parents shall ensure their child(ren) is/are properly dressed.
  • Parents must comply with the school dress code (head covered, no revealing clothing, trousers must be accompanied by a long top/dress) while within the school premises/hostel, or you won’t be allowed into the school or hostel premises
  • Parents must comply with the pick-up and drop-off policy, any violation of this will attract a fine.
  • Parents are required to ensure their child(ren) complete homework and turns them in as at when due.
  • Parents are required to participate in PTC (Parent Teacher’s Conference) and PEA (Parent Engagement Activity)
  • Parents shall not help their child(ren) to violate or disregard any of the codes of conduct or rules of the school.
  • Parents shall not engage/or become confrontational with any member of staff
  • Parents are required to direct their complains or grievances through the appropriate channel-through the office of the school Administrator

Offenses and Penalties

  • the student will make presentation on different topics on the assembly ground for 1 week
  • repeated offenders will be given 2 days suspension

Bringing prohibited items to school
  • permanent seizure of the item with a warning
  • repeated offenders will be required sign an undertaken after their parents have been notified and/or be suspended for a week.

Noise making/disrupting classes/sleeping in class
  • Detention for the rest of the day and/or assisting the EYFS teachers for the rest of the day

Failure to complete note, turn in homework or project
  • In addition to completing the task and turning it in within a period specified by the teacher, the student should be given a book to review and will be a session or 2 must be arranged with school counselor

unkept notebook/textbook
  • the student should be made to fix it with glue, gum, staple or paper tape.
  • the student must always present is notes for checking by the counselor for te rest of te term

Rudeness/disrespect towards staff members
  • book review
  • no club activity for the term
  • a written apology

Bullying/Fighting
  • 3 weeks suspension for bullying with and undertaken signed upon resumption
  • 1-week suspension for fighting (physical) and 1 week counselling session upon resumption
  • watering the flowers for 1 week and 1 week counselling session for abusing or exchanging words

Missing salat/ Friday Khutbahs
  • Clean the mosque for 1 week, ensure the kettles are clean and fill them with water before every salat.

Destroying/damaging school property
  • Writing on the wall in classroom or hostel
  • Breaking of tables and chairs in the classroom
  • The defaulting student shall be surcharged accordingly
  • Out of class punishment for 3 days (watering of flowers, cutting of grass,

Note- for all major offense, student will be given the opportunity to defend themselves in the presence of a disciplinary committee.

About The Rehla Academy (TRA)

The Rehla Academy (TRA) was born out of the desire to meet the educational and spiritual needs of Muslim Children in Nigeria. Founded on the vision of the Chairman after several years of planning with September, 2018 as our official founding date.
