The Rehla Academy

THE REHLA ACADEMY (TRA) PRESCHOOL

The TRA Preschool Program, following the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, is designed to provide a nurturing and stimulating environment for young learners. The program is divided into three key stages: Playgroup, Kindergarten 1 (KG1), and Kindergarten 2 (KG2), each tailored to the developmental needs of specific age groups.

Education in the early years is vitally important for the children to acquire basic skills. It is important that foundations are laid on which future learning can take place. If children are well motivated, enthusiastic, interested and happy then they learn more effectively. We aim to develop these skills in a creative, imaginative and original way. The children need to learn in an atmosphere where they are not afraid to make mistakes and this in turn becomes an important part of the learning process. Each child will be encouraged to reach their highest potential and motivated to want to continue learning.

Here at TRA, we understand the importance of play in the early years. We believe that play is essential for physical, emotional, social, spiritual and intellectual development of each child and we are committed to ensuring quality play opportunities are available to all our children.

The Early Years Foundation Stage program provides specific learning areas:

THE REHLA ACADEMY (TRA) PRIMARY

TRA Primary School offers a robust educational program for young learners, adhering to the internationally recognized Cambridge Primary framework. The program spans from Year 1 to Year 5, catering to students aged 6-11, providing them with a comprehensive and holistic education that prepares them for future academic success.

The TRA Primary program, through its implementation of the Cambridge Primary framework for Years 1 to 5, provides a well-rounded education that equips students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for future academic endeavours and lifelong learning. With a focus on fostering curiousity, critical thinking, and a love for learning, TRA Primary ensures that each child reaches their full potential in a supportive and nurturing environment.

THE REHLA ACADEMY (TRA) SECONDARY SCHOOL (Year 7 – 12)

Our secondary school comprises three sections: lower secondary, upper secondary, and a recommended gap year. Students spend six years in secondary school, including the ELA. We admit students into Year 7 (equivalent to JSS1) and Year 10 (SSS1).

LOWER SECONDARY SCHOOL (YEAR 7 – 9)

In lower secondary school (first 3 years), our students are exposed to advanced math, English and science learning. In Year 9, they take the Checkpoint Examination, which provides a statement of achievement highlighting strengths and weaknesses. This helps us prepare for the IGCSE examination. Additionally, students engage in enrichment programs like languages (Arabic, French and Yoruba), ICT (Computing and Digital Literacy), Global Perspectives, Entrepreneurship, Critical Thinking, Robotics/programming and Leadership.

UPPER SECONDARY SCHOOL (Year 10 – 11)

After the Checkpoint Examination in Year 9, our students spend the next two years preparing for the IGCSE exam. In Year 11, the final year of our Secondary School, our students will sit for the IGCSE exam conducted by the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate (UCLES). This internationally recognized exam is accepted by universities in Nigeria and over 160 countries in the world.

The Cambridge IGCSE promotes high standards through an inquiry-based approach and offers a diverse curriculum that caters to 21st-century learning. It enhances performance by developing creative thinking, inquiry and problem-solving skills. This is why reputable secondary schools in Nigeria, including TRA, adopt it.

In addition to the IGCSE, our curriculum includes national and ELITE enrichment subjects to provide global competitiveness and enable our students to sit for the General Certificate Examination (GCE) and the JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). Compulsory subjects include Mathematics, English, Yoruba, Arabic & French languages, Economics, Global Perspective, Leadership (LIM), Entrepreneurship (Venture Lab), ICT (Computing & Digital Literacy), and Islamiyah. Science subjects encompass Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Additional Mathematics, and Robotics/Programming. Management Science (Commercial) subjects cover Accounting and Business Studies, while Humanity (Art) subjects include Literature in English, Sociology, History, and Government.

TRA ELITE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY (YEAR 12)

After the IGCSE examination, our students transition into the TRA ELITE LEADERSHIP ACADEMY, our advanced program. This program includes a year of intensive Cambridge A-Level, SAT, IELTS/TOEFL, GMAT, UTME, JUPEB, Quran memorization, Arabic, Islamic studies and Leadership courses. Students can choose their preferred program from the options listed.

Our gap year program is designed to prepare our students for university and beyond. It equips them with the skills to think independently and utilize critical thinking in their chosen program to enhance their learning experience.

Moreover, the Cambridge A-Level qualification greatly facilitates admission to the second year of prestigious universities worldwide. The SAT opens doors to scholarship opportunities at renowned universities in the United States, Canada, Australia and other countries. This significantly increases the chances of our students gaining admission to their desired university and being well-prepared for both university life and future endeavours.

Islamic Education

Our Islamic Studies curriculum covers broad areas of Islam, including study of the Qur’an, Hadeeth, Aqeedah, Fiqh, Seerah and Akhlaaq (Islamic Character Education). The key concept used in our Islamic studies is the Tarbiyah Model (Islamic Values education- which focuses on beliefs, virtues & values, manners & etiquettes, rights and responsibilities, feelings, attitudes, and moral literacy skills). This is aimed at providing transformational and inspirational awareness, not only on learning the theory part of Islamic knowledge (about Islam), but also on the complete character and personality development of our students.
